Weather looking good...

Thanks to everyone who made it out to the kickoff party at Virginia’s, the turnout was a little low but membership is still strong and with the weather looking good for this weekend the memberships have been pouring in. I hope everyone likes the new T-Shirts this year. Anyone who needs this year’s rule booklet you can stop by Fox Yacht Sales and pick one up until 5pm Friday, after that you can call Chris Fox at 361-779-8025.

We have added an aggregate trophy for the meat fish divisions this year. Every meat fish that counts towards points in each tournament will also count towards an aggregate for that species for the year. There will still be trophies for the largest meat fish for the year.

A couple more changes for this year are that we are cancelling the phone line to let you know if the tournament is on or off and will just be posting online. Our online operation is in the process of moving to www.ccbgfc.com but the www.ccbgfc.org will stay current throughout this year. The new website will be better equipped to handle the scoring and updates, easier for layout changes, adding pictures, and easier to navigate.

With good weather all week and a good outlook for this weekend we are excited for what looks like will be the first tournament of the year. There have been good reports coming in all week of good fishing and good rips forming up so it looks like the weigh in will be pretty busy Saturday.

Tournament #5 Recap

What a weekend it was for fishing! With serious doubt if the weather would cooperate or not, tournament #5 turned out to be beautiful weather. The anglers going out on Saturday were rewarded with multiple billfish per boat.

Pulling in at 7:45 pm Saturday evening, the Aly Gator & Wired Up had a lot to celebrate. Wired Up released six sailfish and one white. Ashleigh Pundt reeled in three of those sails and the white, while anglers AJ Hecker and Lan Ingram reeled in the rest. Aboard the Aly Gator junior Marlin Johnson released two white, Aly Gerloff & Gary Edwards released one more white each, totaling four white marlin for the boat.

The Fin Stalker released two sailfish (caught by Laurie Soechting & Claudette Jordan) and one white marlin. Laurie also weighed in a dolphin at 21.25 lbs. which put her in second place in that division.

Todd Hester made a solo trip aboard the Double Trouble and it paid off! Todd released the only blue of this tournament. He also released two sailfish.

The Wildcatter gang reeled in three sailfish with D.A. Hughes III & Matt Jones on the rods. D.A. also weighed in a wahoo at 13.6 lbs. which landed him at third place in that category.

Fishin Impossible and Tico Time also released one sailfish each.
